Rockaway Beach Library Friends
We want to thank the Rockaway Beach community for the years of support that have been crucial in making the Rockaway Branch Library such a vital part of our beach town. The Rockaway Library opened in 1999. Once the home of the Rockaway Women’s Club, who donated it to the community, a group began the Friends to raise funds and refurbish the Club into our community library.
The Friends continues to have a vital role in Rockaway Library operations by providing funds through book sales, membership dues, donations and local businesses. These funds help pay for the utilities and maintenance of the building and grounds of the Library. In addition, the Friends help sponsor various library activities and events such as the Summer Reading Program, the Holiday Sale table and ongoing and special book sales.
There is also a new way to help support the Rockaway Friends by linking your Fred Meyer’s rewards card to the Friends account, # 82131. Your personal rewards stay the same while the Rockaway Friends benefit, too. Linking info is at fredmeyer.com/communityrewards.
The Tillamook County Library has done a fine job of growing this branch since 1999 by providing staff, the computer catalog, well stocked shelves, public computers and 24 hours a day wi-fi that even covers the parking lot, plus support for programs and special activities. The Friends and the County Library partnership continues to be a very successful collaboration.
