Kids: Summer Reading BINGO (7-11)

Kids Summer Reading BINGO Sheet for ages 7 to 11.

WELCOME TO TILLAMOOK COUNTY LIBRARY’S SUMMER READING PROGRAM 2023!

Here you will find the BINGO Sheet and instructions for children 7 to 11 years old. 

WHO: Children ages 7-11

WHERE: All Tillamook County Library locations, including the Bookmobile

WHEN: June 10th - August 3rd

HOW: Using the BINGO sheet, complete the task inside each BINGO square. Put a sticker on the square when it’s done. If you are not able to complete the task, read for 30 minutes as an alternative. 

Five completed BINGO lines will earn a free book for each completed line. The other 5 completed BINGO lines will earn additional prizes for each completed line. A completed BINGO sheet will earn a total of 10 prizes, a free t-shirt and an invitation to the End-Of-Summer Reading party with cake, pizza and additional prizes!

Prizes can be chosen throughout the summer or kiddos can wait to choose all prizes during Prize-A-Palooza. 

Prize-A-Palooza will be held Aug 2nd-3rd. All available prizes will be displayed, school supplies, extra summer crafts and other free goodies available.

Special programs are scheduled at all Tillamook County Library locations throughout the summer. Check the schedules included in your sign-up bag, or the Library's online Events calender to find an event near you.

Below you can find all of the instructions found on the back of BINGO sheet:

Space B1: Endangered Animal Scavenger Hunt - Each library location has hidden endangered animals. Using the checklist in the sign-up packet, visit your local library and see if you can find the hidden animals. (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space B2: Play a Game as a Family - Who doesn’t love to play games? Board games, word games, physical games, all kinds of games! Choose a game as a family and play for 30 minutes. (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space B3: Walk the Rockaway Big Tree Trailhead - Visit the Big Tree in the Cedar Wetlands Preserve located just Highway 101 in Rockaway Beach, Oregon. Put your hiking boots on this for this boardwalk-style 1.1 loop trail. Lots to see and do! (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space B4: Visit the Tillamook Forest Center - The Tillamook Forest Center is an amazing place to visit! Make sure to have enough time to walk some of the available trails.. (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space B5: Word Searches - Word search puzzles are a great way to keep your brain sharp. In your sign-up packet you will find several word search puzzles. See how many words you can find without help. (Or read for 30 minutes.)

Space I1: Read with a Friend - Have you and a friend ever wanted to spend time together but you’re both too tired to do anything? How about just grabbing books and reading together? You can read to each other, talk about your favorite parts or just quietly read. (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space I2: Visit the Octopus Tree - How many kids can say they live near an Octopus Tree? Not many! If you’ve never had the chance to visit this wonderful landmark, plan a visit! (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space I3: Trade Favorite Books with Your Best Friend - Do you know what your best friend is reading these days? My best friend and I used to trade books all the time. Try reading your best friend’s favorite book and discuss it with them. Do you feel the same way about the book? Let us know what book you read and what you thought about it. (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space I4: Read a Non-Fiction Book - A non-fiction book is full of information (not stories, which is fiction). Think of a topic you really enjoy and read a book about it. Can’t find a book on your topic of interest? Let us know and we’ll find one for you! (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space I5: Attend an SRP Performance - Check out the complete list of Summer Reading Performers that will be performing throughout the County’s library system this summer. There’s something for everyone! (Or read for 30 minutes.)

Space N1: Watch a Movie Based on a Book - There are so many movies that are based on books! Check out the list and see what combination sounds interesting to you. Read the book and then watch the movie. Let us know which you liked better, the book or the movie. Why? Check out this list. (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space N2: Cryptograms - Cryptograms are word puzzles that keep your brain strong. In your sign-up packet you will find several cryptograms. See how many you can solve without help. (Or read for 30 minutes.)

Space N4: Sign Up for a Library Card - Do you have your very own library card? Yes, you are old enough! If you do not have your own library card, have a parent sign you up for one the next time you visit your local library. You will get to choose a free book to keep! (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space N5: Read an Award-Winning Book - Award-winning books are some of the best books available! And there is a plethora of awards. Next time you’re in your local library looking for something to read, ask for suggestions of award-winning books! There's something for everyone! Find award winning books type of award, by author, by genre, by award year or by age. (Or read for 30 minutes.)

Space G1: Visit a Different Library Branch - The Tillamook County Library has the Main library, five branch libraries and the Bookmobile (that’s a library on wheels!). Take a trip to see a branch that you haven’t been to or haven’t visited in a while. Our staff is always happy to see you! (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space G2: Read at the Beach - Summer is the perfect time to head to the beach and enjoy a good book while lying in the warm sand. Just remember not to take your swimming with you! (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space G3: Beach Cleanup - Who doesn’t like to visit the beach? During the busy summer months sometimes our beaches have lots of trash lying around. Next time you head to the beach take a garbage bag and some gloves and pick up some trash. Make sure to have an adult with you. What’s the weirdest piece of garbage you found? (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space G4: Crosswords - Crosswords are another word game that keep our brains sharp. You will find several crossword puzzles in your sign-up packet. See how many you can fill in without help. (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space G5: Visit Local Tidepools - Living near the ocean means we have incredible learning opportunities! Three Graces Tidepools just north of Garibaldi, Oregon and the tidepools at Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City, Oregon are wonderful! Go check them out! Directions in the link. Space O1: Kindness costs nothing and it often makes us feel better about ourselves and the world. Look around you. What act of kindness can you perform for your family? Your community? A friend? Someone that needs help? (DO NOT approach strangers without a trusted grownup with you.) Need some ideas? Check out this list. (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space O2: Enjoy a Take-Home Craft Activity - Who doesn’t love a good craft or STEM activity? In your sign-up packet you will find a list of take-home activities we have planned for this year. Do one, do them all! (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space O3: Read Together as a Family - There are many ways to read: books, newspapers, magazines, alone, as a group, paired, etc. Ask your family if they would all grab something to read and spend 30 minutes reading together as a family. No judgement on what someone else is reading. Even the back of a cereal box counts!! (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space O4: Read to an Animal - Do you have a furry pet at home? A scaly pet? Something with horns? Cows, pigs and chickens all count! Find an animal you think would enjoy a story. Let us know who you read to. Do you think they liked the story? (Or read for 30 minutes.)
Space O5: Read a Brand-New Book - There are always tons of new books coming into the library. Ask where to find the new library books for kids the next time you’re at your local library. (Or read for 30 minutes.)
