You Do Speak English, Don’t You?

Mark and Helena Greathouse, an international musical duo, present their one-hour original show, "You Do Speak English, Don't You?", a family-friendly, lively cabaret-style variety show. It is a one-hour show featuring humorous stories of their early life together, beginning in Hamburg, Germany, where they met as foreign students from their respective countries (Helena from former Czechoslovakia and Mark from the US). This performance is basically a love story of how they met, eventually married, and moved to Mark's native Oregon, where they live today. A Question-and-Answer session follows the performance, with Helena sharing what her life was like growing up behind the Iron Curtain and making it to the West. Mark plays all the music in the show on accordion, featuring his own songs, Czech and Slovak folk songs, as well as several familiar songs and parts of instrumental numbers. The songs are all interspersed with short, humorous dialogues highlighting challenges Helena and Mark have experienced in their lives as a Czech-American couple.
