Fish Eggs to Fry: Growing Spring Chinook Salmon at the Library

Garibaldi and Bay City Branch Libraries will be hosting Spring Chinook Salmon Eggs as part of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife's (ODFW) educational Salmon Trout Enhancement Program (STEP). We hope you will stop by either library to learn more about the eggs and how they become fry. Check back here for weekly updates on their progress.

Fish Eggs to Fry - Week 1 Update

The Spring Chinook salmon eggs were delivered to both the Bay City and Garibaldi branch libraries Tuesday, October 22nd. Kyle Wilson from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) and Diana DiMarco and Danielle Maillard from Tillamook Estuaries Partnership (TEP) joined us at each branch to share their expertise with attendees at the event. We hope you will join us in learning about salmon, their lifecycle and their habitats over the next several weeks.

Fish Eggs to Fry - Week 2 Update

The salmon eggs have started hatching! Tuesday, October 29, one little salmon had emerged. Today, several more burst forth. It won’t be long and they will all have hatched. Stop by either Bay City or Garibaldi Branch Libraries to see these little wonders grow and change.
